Metal Detecting for Men's Mental Health – June 6th–8th, 2025

Grim Sweepers and Dragon Detecting are excited to invite you to a special, invite-only weekend of metal detecting, camaraderie, and laughs – all in support of Man Down, a brilliant charity dedicated to supporting men’s mental health.

When: June 6th–8th, 2025

Where: 65 acres of historic land directly behind Monmouth Castle

Who: Strictly limited to 60 people – first come, first served!

This weekend isn’t just about the detecting – it’s about coming together, making memories, and raising money for a vital cause. Expect:

    Raffles, bingo, and silly games

    Saturday night fancy dress - any theme (prize for best costume)

    Prizes to be won and good company to enjoy

    Jay's Catering on-site serving up tasty food

    Portaloos

   The unveiling of the Man Down gazebo, which will be hitting more events throughout the year

You might uncover hammered coins—or loads of ring pulls. With public footpaths nearby, expect plenty of dog walkers and a fair share of modern finds. The weather? Could be glorious sunshine or a weekend for waterproofs—who knows! But one thing’s certain: 100% of proceeds go directly to Man Down.

15 or so have done half a days detecting in torrential rain and still came away with a few hammereds and some lovely finds. While we can’t promise what’s in the ground, we can promise a fantastic weekend with good people, a great cause, and memories to last.

No emptying toilets from your own portaloo and all rubbish to be taken home with you.
